Background Of The Company
ASPET is a new company promoted by
Dhunseri Group (belonging to Dhanukas of Calcutta, viz. Late Shri S.L. Dhanuka and
Shri C.K.
Dhanuka). The company was incorporated on June 5, 1996 to manufacture Bottle Grade PET
Resins having a capacity of 200000 TPA. Production is the largest and most
modern in the.
Location
The plant of ASPET is
located at Basudevpur, Haldia, Dist. Midnapur, West Bengal. The site is located around 7.5
km from Haldia Port and 5 km from NH-5, and is connected by an all weather link road.
Haldia is an all weather port with adequate infrastructure and berthing facilities. It is
an established Industrial zone with the required infrastructure in place, adequate supply
of Power, Water and other Utilities to ensure smooth functioning of the project.

Demand:
End Use Application
PET Resins are used mainly in the
packaging industries (about 90% of the total demand). Its others uses are in the
industrial sectors like automobiles, building insulation, pipe insulation, coating for
washable, etc.
In packaging industry, PET Resins are
used as alternative medium for packaging of Food, Pharmaceuticals, Toiletries and
Detergents, Pesticides, Marine products, Cereals & Spices, Lube Oils, Edible Oils,
Mineral water, Health Drinks, Milk & Milk Products, tea & coffee, etc replacing
materials such as glass, PVC, PE / PP, metals etc.
Further on account of its inherent
advantages and the price being close to that of commodity plastics, there is fair chance
of PET carving out some more markets of PVC, Polyethylene and HDPE.
As per PCI group of U.K. (PCI), a leading
consultant in petrochemical industry, the major consumption of the product is in
carbonated soft drink industry which accounts for more than 50% of the total world
requirement. Other significant consumers are industries like mineral water packaging (17%)
and food/drinks packaging (10%).
